COME AS YOU ARE

Every family has a unique personality, and when we work together, I strive to bring out the unexpected, humorous, or touching moments that make your family like no other. I call my style directed photojournalism, which is a balance between the carefree and the guided, with attention paid to composition, and the essence of each subject. My ultimate goal is to provide you with images you will cherish for years to come.

PRAISE

“Thank you so much Anita! The photos are absolutely wonderful. There are so many great shots to pick from. I don’t know which to choose. I really appreciate all of your tips before the photo shoot, calm demeanor, and wonderful photography skills! Also, I was surprised to see that you were already done with the editing – that was fast! I can’t wait to see the book. Thanks again!”

“I just opened my email, and there were the most beautiful 23 photos I think I’ve ever seen. I was tearing up to look at them and could not stop… Obviously, I am a bit impartial. You have an incredible eye and vision of art and we are so lucky to have been a part of this.”

–Greta, Family Portrait Client

“I love the photos! You know what Brian said when he saw them? “I think we found OUR photographer… I mean for life.” We really love your work.”

–Diana, Family Portrait Client

“I love the photos and it is hard to pick a favorite. I really like one of my mom and her dog. It is so hard to get my mom to smile, and you really captured her.  I am so happy we were able to do the session when we did. Also love the group shots… and ones of me. Thank you again Anita for your creative eye, and patience to work with the group.”

–Suzanne, Family Portrait Client

“The photos you produce are always incredible. Each time I am handed an amazing perspective. Each year as the seasons pass I feel like we are walking a path with your photos. I have to say, the Fall season is most memorable. Natures colors are a blessing and you know just how to capture them.”

–Gwen, Client, Various Projects

“You see people the way everyone would love to be seen – with curiosity, respect, humor, and some kind of abiding love. That is why you are a great photographer, and why you can’t help but make art.”

Inspiring Places to Photograph in Seattle

June 22, 2022

I was recently interviewed by Redfin and asked about my favorite “photography spot” in Seattle.    Without hesitation I said:  Seattle’s Kerry Park.  Why? Kerry Park is probably the most picturesque location in all of Seattle.  Having a combination of the Space Needle, skyline, Mt. Rainer and Puget Sound as its backdrop, you are guaranteed to come away with amazing photos of the family, a proposal moment, wedding party photos or whatever your photo project entails.  For favorite spots of many seasoned Seattle Photographers, refer to the article below that originally appeared on Redfin and is posted here with the author’s permission.  Regarded… Read More

Meditative Photography for Women

April 10, 2018

There is so much beauty that passes by us daily, or rather that we pass it by, and I would like to bring that awareness back and make a daily practice of it by teaching Meditative Photography for Women. It is born through… Read More

The Road To Becoming A Family Photographer

November 7, 2017

Everybody’s path is different. Some photographers become successful overnight. They wake up one day confronted with a life situation where they must earn a living and decide to become a family photographer because they are good with kids, they like photography well enough, or happen to have a camera in a closet that the ex left … and build everything from there. I know a few photographers who did it like that: decided that they had the elements of what was required and became fabulous family photographers with solid, thriving businesses, not necessary because of a calling but because life… Read More
