May the World in 2011 always be at your fingertips!

This is an image I made literally on the way out from a great wedding I photographed long time ago ( film wedding). Using it for today’s  New Year’s Eve post. Happy New Year everyone! Let it be a fantastic year with hands on everything that The World brings to us! Anita.

“Mudness” before Xmas (Unique Seattle Family Portraits).

After the main family photography was through, dad said: “Son, you want to roll in mud? Want to?” At first, there was a disbelief on boy’s face, then he took to it, rolled back and forth and more and in the end you can see how proud he was. Chris, the father said jokingly: “Got to return the sweater to the store now”.

“Leafaganza” as I call these family Autumn portraits (Seattle Family Photographer).

Hard to believe how bright yellow and festive it gets during late Autumn in Seattle! Muddy too….

Low Winter afternoon light (Seattle Family Portraits).

My client suggested a certain location for her family photography ( her friend had a lovely photo session at Bothel area in Seattle with her family). At first, I thought: “Oh, why travel further then to Arboretum, Gas Works Park or Lake Washington area?” Then, my curiosity for new angles won over and I “landed” my car at Bothel Landing in Seattle, making this image with low Winter light. The background is almost 3 D with trees reflecting in the water, confluence in the distance and my subjects in the foreground.  I welcome this image to my portfolio!

Wedding Photography from old film days vs today’s digital ways.

I have been looking through old albums of mine – my photography from years ago when film was the only way. Much has changed since the T- Max days ( my fave film). Sometimes I go back and revisit in my mind how precise the film photography had to be. Precise with composition, the energy of the subject and the light. Not paying attention was costly. It could easily turn into many rolls of film and big $ numbers at the lab. My commercial photography is created digitally 100% as of now but I am glad that my first training in photography was with film. I am still careful how I make my exposures, even though digitally.

Sandra and Peter’s wedding. Marysville, near Seattle. Seems like so many years ago. Ron Henry was the main photographer. I was just “covering” his back…

Gothic Halloween Wedding

The Ultimate Halloween Wedding Bash. Gothic Wedding.

The rain has never let up on this Halloween weekend in Seattle. In fact, if you looked outside the window and wished for less of it, it would rain harder. When I began  Alexis and Stephen’s Victorian wedding  photography on Saturday afternoon, I wished for clear skies at first, but then with every photo made, I realized that the heavy rain, milky fog hanging in the air was the best nature’s gift for the theme of their wedding. It added more character to it, enhanced the atmosphere and the dark spirit of the Halloween weekend. Top hats, fans, parasols, corsets, details and creativity all around! This was photographer’s dream to capture. And yes, my cameras were rained on, but without the rain, the images would have not looked the same: Gothic- like and intense. Alexis and Stephen got married at Parsons Garden (the “secret garden that isn’t quite so secret”), Queen Anne, Seattle. Reception took place at the Columbia Tower. Flowers: Aria Style.
